El prop\u00f3sito de este proyecto es ofrecer un programa de formaci\u00f3n profesional para maestros y maestras de ingl\u00e9s de estudiantes diversos del nivel secundario, que conduzcan al desarrollo de estrategias innovadoras que fomenten un mejor desepe\u00f1o ling\u00fc\u00edstico y estimulen el aprendizaje mediante un curr\u00edculo integrado. Este responde a la necesidad urgente de las escuelas p\u00fablicas y privadas. En esta ocasi\u00f3n, estuvo dirigido a docentes de la regi\u00f3n educativa de Humacao, tanto de escuelas p\u00fablicas como privadas, principalmente de los municipios de Yabucoa, R\u00edo Grande, Caguas, Maunabo y Juncos.<\/p>\n<p>El proyecto contempl\u00f3 los siguientes objetivos:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Lograr un educador competente de alto grado que pueda implementar el aprendizaje basado en problemas, el desarrollo de conceptos, el aprendizaje cooperativo y otras estrategias de ense\u00f1anza pertinentes para el crecimiento educativo de los estudiantes diversos.<\/li>\n<li>Facilitar el desarrollo profesional de 20 educadores en la integraci\u00f3n de la m\u00fasica, el <em>performance<\/em> y artes visuales, la alineaci\u00f3n del curr\u00edculo, la tecnolog\u00eda, y la evaluaci\u00f3n de la ense\u00f1anza de ingl\u00e9s de estudiantes diversos para un mejor rendimiento acad\u00e9mico.<\/li>\n<li>Promover y difundir la planificaci\u00f3n estrat\u00e9gica de los participantes a trav\u00e9s del dise\u00f1o de matrices curriculares y lecciones basadas en est\u00e1ndares de excelencia.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Para lograr estos objetivos, el proyecto reclut\u00f3 20 maestros del sistema escolar p\u00fablico y privado en la regi\u00f3n de Humacao. El proyecto fue concebido como una colaboraci\u00f3n entre los diferentes actores: (a) el Programa de Ingl\u00e9s del Departamento de Educaci\u00f3n, (b) la Facultad de Educaci\u00f3n del Recinto de R\u00edo Piedras de la Universidad de Puerto Rico, (c) la facultad del Departamento de Ingl\u00e9s del Recinto de Humacao de la Universidad de Puerto Rico y (d) los Maestros de Ingl\u00e9s de Puerto Rico para Hablantes de Otros Idiomas (Puerto Rico Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages, PRTESOL). En Mac, utilice Control + Click y escoja \u201cSave Link As\u201d.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"ttfmake-hr\" style=\"border-style: dotted; border-top-width: 2px;\" \/>\n<p>The <strong><em>Professional Development for Teachers of English to Secondary School Diverse Learners: Strategies for Integrating Art and Technology for Effective Communication<\/em><\/strong> was sponsored by a grant from the Puerto Rico Council on Education, No Child Left Behind, Title II Funds (NCLB-13-01). The purpose of this project is to offer a professional training program to teachers English to Secondary School\u00a0 of diverse learners, leading to the development of innovative strategies that will foster a better linguistic achievement and stimulate learning through an integrated curriculum. It responds to the urgent need of both public and private schools. It targeted teachers from the Humacao Public School Region and private schools located in Yabucoa, Rio Grande, Caguas, Maunabo, and Juncos.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, the project envisioned the following goals:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Achieve a high degree competent educator who can implement problem based learning, concept development, cooperative learning, and other teaching strategies pertinent to the educational growth of diverse learners.<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate the professional development of 20 teachers in the integration of music, performance and visual arts, curriculum alignment, technology, and assessment to the teaching of English to diverse learners for a better academic achievement.<\/li>\n<li>Promote and disseminate participants&#8217; strategic planning through the design of curricular matrix(es) and lessons based on standards of excellence.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>In order to achieve these goals, the project recruited 20 teachers from the private and public school systems in the Humacao Region. The project was envisioned as a collaboration among different stakeholders: (a) Department of Education English Program, (b) University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus, Education Faculty, (c)University of Puerto Rico, Humacao Campus, English Department Faculty, and (d) Puerto Rico Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (PRTESOL).
