Su prop\u00f3sito es fomentar el desarrollo profesional y capacitarlos en estrategias de ense\u00f1anza innovadoras que integren las artes visuales, el teatro, las nuevas tecnolog\u00edas, entre otras.<\/p>\n<p>El programa cont\u00f3 con la participaci\u00f3n de 60 maestros aproximadamente. En su primera etapa, se ofrecieron talleres sabatinos de febrero a mayo de 2009 y un instituto de verano durante el mes de junio. Estos talleres se reanudaron de agosto a diciembre de 2009. En su tercera etapa, de enero a mayo de 2010, los profesores que sirvieron de recursos y los directores realizaron una serie de visitas a los maestros para dar seguimiento a los participantes en sus respetivas escuelas y centros educativos. Adem\u00e1s, se trabaj\u00f3 sobre el dise\u00f1o de una publicaci\u00f3n, con la cual culmin\u00f3 todo el proceso. La misma incluye varios art\u00edculos redactados por los recursos del proyecto y una serie de lecciones desarrolladas por los participantes, en las que demuestran los conocimientos adquiridos durante el proyecto.<\/p>\n<p>Adem\u00e1s de la Dra. Mar\u00eda Irizarry y la Dra. Annette L\u00f3pez de M\u00e9ndez, el proyecto cont\u00f3 con la participaci\u00f3n de los doctores Elsie Candelaria, Rosemary Morales, Juan Carlos Vadi, Lowell Fiet y el profesor An\u00edbal Mu\u00f1oz. Lourdes M. Torres B\u00e1ez, asistente del Centro de Investigaciones Educativas, fungi\u00f3 como coordinadora.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"ttfmake-hr\" style=\"border-style: dotted; border-top-width: 2px;\" \/>\n<p>The <strong><em>Professional Training for Teachers of Diverse Learners: Strategies for Language Enhancement<\/em><\/strong> project was sponsored by the Center for Educational Research of the College of Education of the University of Puerto Rico at R\u00edo Piedras and the Council of Higher Education of Puerto Rico with funds of No Child Left Behind Law (NCLB-08-13). The purpose of this project was to achieve a high degree competent educator who can implement teaching strategies pertinent to the educational growth of diverse learners. To reach this goal, the project facilitated the professional development of approximately 60 teachers from public and private schools. The areas covered visual and performing arts, music, curriculum alignment, state of the art technology, and assessment strategies, as integrated to the teaching of English to diverse learners for a better academic achievement. The project also promoted and disseminated participants\u2019 strategic planning through the design of curricular matrix(es) based on standards of excellence.
