People are asked to avoid the area. The Reno Police Department (RPD) responded to the report of an active shooter at the Grand Sierra Resort at 7:25 a.m. on July 28. Police found the suspect within 4 to 5 minutes and an officer-involved shooting occurred outside the valet. Authorities say the suspect, who was only identified as an adult man, was transported to the hospital and there is no threat to the public. No word on the suspect's condition has been released. Authorities say there are multiple victims with varying levels of injuries they’re working to make sure everyone is accounted for before an exact number is released. Several officers were involved and some received minor injuries but they were not shot. The shooting happened primarily outside the front door and in the valet area along with the north side of the parking lot. Authorities say the area will be closed for a while.
