Watch this video to learn just that! My waterfall rating: ***** Distance from Halifax, Nova Scotia: approx. 224km Total travel time: approx. 3 hours. Total hiking time: we spent 3 hours just exploring and filming however you may be able to do this in about an hour. Fitness level: Experienced. George Fraser Slot Canyon is located in Fraserville, Cumberland County just outside of Parrsborro. Fraserville is a 3 hour drive from Halifax. Take NS-102 towards Truro, then Use the left lane to take exit 15W for Trans-Canada Highway/NS-104 W toward Amherst/New Brunswick. After 21km Take exit 10 toward NS-4/NS-2/Great Village/Bass River/Londonderry. At end of overpass turn left onto Station Road. Travel to end of road and turn right onto Nova Scotia Trunk 2 N. Once in Parsborro turn right near Tim Hortons to stay on Nova Scotia Trunk 2 N (signs for NS-209/Amherst/Main Street). Turn left onto highway 209. Follow the 209 for 32 km to Bennett Hill Road on your right. Turn onto Bennett Hill Road and continue approximately 2km. Stay on the left when the road splits into a Y intersection in the blueberry field. Not far from here you will take another left turn (do not go up the steep hill on the right)! Take this left, and continue as far as you can until the road stops at the trees. Park here. From parking, enter the forest and follow the ATV trail until you reach a sharp turn to the left. DO NOT go left! Turn right and head down the steep ravine. Note it is very steep. You will see the river at the bottom of the ravine. Follow this river upstream to take you to the first waterfall. Do not get distracted by the small trickle of water part way up the stream on your left with ropes immediately on your right. Pass these and go to the end of the river where you will find the first waterfall. Be prepared for a climb to see the second waterfall as the only way to get into and out of the canyon is by climbing down and back up the rock wall. There is a rope there to assist you, however you should always check to ensure the rope is in good condition and able to hold your weight. Bring your own just in case. Reminders: It is important to practice responsible outdoor recreation and Leave No Trace.
