However, I didn’t want to miss sharing it on Paul McCartney’s birthday. I hope you enjoy it nonetheless, and happy birthday to Sir Paul McCartney! Here, There and Everywhere was recorded in three sessions in June 14, 16, and 17, 1966 at Abbey Road Studios, and is part of the iconic Revolver album, released on August 5, 1966. Primarily written by Paul McCartney (credited to Lennon/McCartney), this gentle romantic ballad was composed by the poolside at John Lennon’s house in Weybridge in early June 1966. Its main inspiration came from God Only Knows by The Beach Boys. McCartney has repeatedly expressed his admiration for the song, even saying he wished he had written it himself. Here, There and Everywhere can be seen as a response to, or an attempt to match, the emotional and harmonic sophistication of Brian Wilson’s work. - PAUL'S RHYTHM - The song starts with the chords G – Bm – Bb – Am7 – D7, but McCartney plays them using his thumb, not a pick or other finger. You can clearly hear the sweeping motion of his thumb across the strings, which gives the intro a softer and more intimate feel. This technique adds to the song’s warm and delicate sound. This song uses a very simple but beautiful arpeggio. Even though McCartney had played arpeggios before ,like in Yesterday, this was the first time he played one on an electric guitar, using his Epiphone Casino ES-230TD with the middle pickup. The arpeggio pattern is easy but sounds elegant: two bass notes and a small strum. It starts with the main note of the chord, then plays either the fifth or the third, and finally a light strum starting from the second string up. This gives the song its soft and dreamy sound. Even though it sounds like he’s playing the arpeggio the whole time, McCartney changes it slightly in important parts. For example, right before each “I Want Her Everywhere” (0:54) (1:29),he does a full strum of the chord to make those parts stand out more and feel stronger. - JOHN AND GEORGE'S LEAD GUITARS - There is some confusion in this part of the arrangement, as it is not certain whether John and George were playing their Stratocasters at the same time and then doing an overdub, or if it was a 12-string guitar recorded twice to achieve that doubled sound. It is generally believed to be the Stratocasters, not only because of the sound quality but also due to a specific detail: at the beginning of this section, the guitars play the open G string before starting the chromatic figure (1:02) (1:37). If it were a 12-string guitar, that note would probably be heard with octaves, as is usually the case with that type of instrument. However, in the recording, it is clearly heard that there are no octaves, which supports the idea that it was played with 6-string guitars. For this cover, I chose to use both the Sonic Blue and Lennon’s mysterious black Stratocaster, since this is the only Stratocaster seen in photos from the album sessions. However, this is just an assumption, and I cannot confirm it for sure:) Recommended videos: - SONIC BLUE AND JOHN'S BLACK STRAT VIDEO - - Michael Sokil's Cover - - Sam Popkin's Cover - - Dom Rossi's Cover - FOLLOW ME: - YT SPANISH CHANNEL: @juodetEspañol - Instagram @_juodet - TIKTOK @_juodet (TheJuoDet) INSTRUMENTS USED: GUITARS - 2013 Epiphone Casino VS - 2008 Fender Stratocaster MIM Black (Painted Like Sonic Blue and Modified With Deluxe Drive Pickups) - 2008 Squier Stratocaster Affinity (With Headstock Painted) BASS - 2017 Rickenbacker 4003s Fireglo #spin bet mx #casino circus
